Connecting water with our world - Michigan Interfaith Power & Light

Connecting Water with Our World at Hamilton Rainscape on July 29th

Detroit has experienced two historic flood disasters in the last decade, the result of a changing climate causing more extreme rain events and an outdated water infrastructure system that can’t keep up. The financial cost, emotional stress, and negative health impacts of these flood disasters have unfairly burdened Detroiters who have limited resources to recover from them.

As the flood water recedes, we cannot forget the impact of our failing infrastructure on our community. Join us for a community conversation to hear testimonials of the June 25-26th flood impact and engage with candidates for Detroit City Council District 4 and At-Large seats. Learn about green solutions that will help Detroit adapt to a changing climate by taking a tour of the rain gardens and green stormwater infrastructure at the Hamilton Rainscape Learning Lab and Brilliant Detroit House. Several organizations will be present to share resources and information around:

- Installing a rain barrel

- Rain Gardens to the Rescue

- Flood assistance information

- Community Tree Planting

Your RSVP helps us to plan: box dinners will be available. RSVP today and join us for a chance to win our rain barrel and Healthy Homes kit giveaways!
