Solar Lobby Day - Michigan Interfaith Power & Light

Solar Lobby Day

Rooftop solar is under attack in Michigan. Join our solar lobby day to tell your lawmaker about how DTE's proposal affects your congregations and our collective future.

Rooftop solar is just one small piece of the transition to just, clean energy puzzle. But DTE's plan to kill it has bigger implications:

  1. Solar would become unaffordable for all but the wealthy
  2. Continued dependence on fossil fuels would mean worse health outcomes, especially for communities of color who suffer disproportionate pollution burdens
  3. By creating barriers to clean energy development, we would be hindered from making the rapid transition we need for the survival of millions on our planet

8:30am - registration & breakfast
9am -10am - orientation
10:15am - 3:30pm - meet with lawmakers (with an hour for lunch)

Breakfast and lunch will be provided!

To help you get prepared, we will hold two training calls on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 12pm and 6pm. The calls will be recorded. You'll be supplied with informational materials and talking points in advance, and we will make the appointments with legislators for you.

Michigan IPL is co-sponsoring this event with the Christian Reformed Church's Climate Witness Project, the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association, Vote Solar, and others.
