Solar Expansion Project – Orthodox Academy of Crete

Voluntary carbon tax for visitors to the Orthodox Academy of Crete

The latest climate challenges in Europe and around the globe remind us of our responsibility to engage at every level to mitigate our carbon footprints, including working through our professional societies. The Orthodox Academy of Crete, which is a Research Institution and a Conference Center, hosts many meetings.

It provides some of the electricity for each group through rooftop solar panels that cover ~1/3 of the total. This project, one of the first of its type in Crete, substitutes for electricity that is largely sourced from petroleum-based power plants. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-8THh8u3Bg

Solar Expansion project – Orthodox Academy of Crete

Donations from supporters will be used to purchase new solar panels to place atop the flat-roofed building. € 5,000 will purchase a ~3.5 kW system, about the size of a typical home. We have already secured matching funds of € 2,500. for this project, so we welcome YOUR donation to help match this, to help us meet our goal!
