We recently developed a guide to going solar for congregations- check it out here!
As solar panels become increasingly affordable, it’s no surprise that more and more houses of worship are installing them. While generating their own energy provides congregations a financial payback down the road, faith communities’ interest in clean energy is often more strongly driven by their desire to “do the right thing” and to fulfill their moral duty to care for God’s creation.
As people of faith, we are called to steward our natural resources with respect and gratitude. When we generate solar electricity, we rely less heavily on coal-fired power plants. Rooftop solar panels protect our air, land, and water, while also serving as an exciting, visible testament to a congregation’s commitment to Earth care. As vital community institutions, houses of worship play an important role in modeling solutions to our most pressing environmental challenges.
Please watch this three minute video about a congregation in Little Rock, Arkansas who implemented solar at their house of worship.
