Saving Money with Michigan Interfaith Power & Light
In joining MiIPL your congregation will be able to save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower energy bills.

First, you will have the opportunity to receive a very low-cost [currently no-cost thanks to grants] energy audit of all your facility. This audit will provide you with the baseline information to develop a strategic energy plan for your facility for the next year to the next five years. By indicating what “no-cost” and “low-cost” solutions you can implement immediately the assessment will show you how you can achieve a return on investment of over 100% and begin making money.

Second, you will receive the ENERGY STAR for Congregations manual, an invaluable resource that will help to guide your congregation as it makes energy upgrades.

Third, a technical expert will be available to help you go over your assessment to begin to implement the assessment and make it pay off in immediate savings. Usually, rapid paybacks can be found in recommendations centered around behavioral changes, addressing the building envelope such as weather-stripping and caulking, and in lighting.

Fourth, we provide through the power of aggregation and with MiIPL’s funding through the U.S. EPA/DOE ENERGY STAR , opportunities for purchase of some of the basic energy saving upgrades such as lighting at savings of up to 30% over retail.

Fifth, With assistance from companies such as Johnson Controls, MiIPL can provide access to some of the top architects and innovative products with some of the latest technology in helping you with your building annex, the replacement of your HVAC system, etc.

Sixth, by taking advantage of MiIPL’s offer of an evening [or time of your choice] of energy education for your congregation every congregant will be able to apply knowledge of energy savings to make their own homes energy efficient and lower their utility bills.
