Since the passage of the Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act in 2008, Michigan has seen billions of dollars of investment and tens of thousands of new jobs. And by reducing our reliance on high-polluting coal-fired power plants and generating more of our energy from clean, renewable sources, we’ve helped protect the health and vitality of our communities.
In spite of these benefits, some lawmakers are threatening to repeal the clean energy standards. One particularly egregious bill would expand the definition of “renewable” to include the burning of hazardous waste!
Gov. Snyder has said we need a “no regrets” energy policy. We agree.
Let’s have a clean conscience by pursuing genuinely clean energy. Let’s protect our Earth for future generations as fiercely as corporate polluters protect their bottom lines.
